Our Story

Innovating for Amputee Mobility

Businessman with Glasses

Meet Michael, the Visionary Behind JERMEC Engineering LLC

On February 7, 2023, Michael, the founder of JERMEC Engineering LLC, experienced a life-altering event. Following a severe trauma accident, he became a below-the-knee amputee. This personal journey not only tested his resilience but also ignited a passion for innovation in prosthetic technology.

The Challenge
Perfecting Prosthetic Alignment

Adjusting to life with a prosthetic limb involves numerous challenges, one of the most significant being the alignment of the prosthetic foot to the residual limb. Michael's own experience highlighted the complexities of this process. Achieving the correct line of force from the distal end of his residual limb to his prosthetic foot required months of meticulous trial and error. The process involved numerous adjustments, fittings, and the creation of new sockets, each time tweaking the mounting points and positions.

Frustrated by the inefficiency and lack of precision tools available to his prosthetist, Michael's engineering mindset kicked in. "Sounds to me like a design problem!" he declared, recognizing a clear need for improvement.

The Solution

A Revolutionary Socket Adapter

Leveraging his background as a seasoned problem solver, Michael embarked on a mission to revolutionize prosthetic technology. He analyzed the existing solutions and identified key areas for enhancement. His dedication led to the creation of an innovative socket adapter that allows for multi-directional movement in the transverse plane.

This groundbreaking adapter facilitates precise adjustments, enabling the optimal line of force for both suction and elevated vacuum systems. It also offers significant benefits for pin systems, which traditionally have limited options for adjusting the connection point. By allowing for the connection to remain centered on the pin attachment while still permitting movement, The HitchFit L-35 addresses a critical need in prosthetic alignment.

A Commitment to Better Mobility

At JERMEC Engineering, we are committed to improving the lives of amputees through innovative technology. Michael's journey from patient to pioneer exemplifies our dedication to creating solutions that enhance mobility and comfort for prosthetic users.

Join us as we continue to push the boundaries of what's possible in prosthetic engineering, inspired by real-life challenges and driven by a relentless pursuit of excellence.
